1. Greek and Roman civilizations arose during the decline of the Egyptian empire. 2. Greek culture differed from the other great nations of the ancient world because it was humanistic. 3. Greek art developed in four distinct periods: Geometric, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic. 4. The Golden Age of ancient Greece is considered to be the 5th century B.C. 5. Style in Greek architecture is denoted by three types of columns : Doric, Ionic and Corinthian. 6. Very little of ancient Greek art survives. We know it primarily from copies made by their Roman conquerors. 7. The Romans did not create an original visual art. Their contribution to art history lies in their amazing engineering skills.
