School Nurse Aide Installation Guide

School Nurse Aide Server Installation Info

The School Nurse Aide application should first be installed on the computer that hosts the School Administrator program. The installation of School Nurse Aide will install the Server files, nursing database and a client folder with the Client software installation file. These files will be installed in the fpdb folder in the SchoolAdmin directory of the School Administrator program.

The Nursing.mdb database will be put in the fpdb folder along with the other databases for the School Administrator. This database should be included when backing up the databases for the School Administrator program. The rest of the application's files will be installed in a folder named Nurse in the fpdb folder.

If the program is installed on a computer with a Windows 2000 Professional, XP Professional, 2000 Server or 2003 Server operating system, you will need to share the folder and allow Change permissions for the school nurse's Window's User Account and for any other User Accounts that will need to use the School Nurse Aide program. You set these permissions by right clicking the fpdb folder and choosing Properties from the popup Menu. Select the Sharing tab and click the Share this folder choice. Enter a name for the Share. Then click the Permissions button and Add those users who you want to be able to access the folder. After adding the User, make sure that they have Change permissions selected.

School Nurse Aide Client Installation Info

Once the Server files are installed, you will need to install the Client software on the computer that will be using the School Nurse Aide program. If the permissions have been correctly set, you should be able to open the shared fpdb folder on the server from the Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places) in Windows Explorer. Then open the nurse folder and open the client folder. Click on the setup.exe file in the client folder to setup the School Nurse Aide software on the client computer.

The client installation will install the software for the School Nurse Aide program on the computer that will be using the program. After installing the program, an icon for the Nurse Aide program will appear on the Desktop.

The first time you access the program, you will be prompted to locate the nurse.dll file and the nursing.mdb database on the server. To locate the nurse.dll file on the server, select the Network Neighborhood (or My Network Places) from the drop down menu in the window that is displayed. Open the shared fpdb folder in the SchoolAdmin directory on the server. Then open the nurse folder and choose the nurse.dll file. To locate the nursing.mdb database, follow the same steps, except the database will be located in the fpdb folder.

As long as the nurse program files and nursing database on the server are not moved, you should not be prompted to find these files again after you access the program the first time.

To login to the School Nurse Aide program, use the account name and password that have been set up in the School Administrator program. Only those persons who have been set up as System Administrator or Nurse Account types can use the Nurse Aide program.
