The
Bookworm Media Catalog System is a school library system that
catalogs library media materials and records student check-out and check-in
of those materials.
The
program allows the user to enter information on library materials and during
the entry process it has the capability of searching the Internet for the
title, author and description. Since the description takes a large portion
of the data-entry time, this feature should help cut down on the data entry
time significantly.
Once the
materials are entered into the system, students can search for available
materials from any computer on the school’s network through a web browser. Librarians can record the check-out and check-in of
materials and identify materials that are overdue, damaged or lost. Reports
can be generated of daily activity, checkout summary and media details. An
overdue parent letter can also be printed.
The Bookworm Media Catalog System is designed
to work with EduConnect’s School Administrator program. Student information
is imported automatically from School Administrator so this information does
not have to be input a second time. The Bookworm server program and database
are stored on the same computer that hosts School Administrator. The client
program is set up on individual computers that are on the school network.
Access to
the program is controlled by accounts set up in School Administrator. Any
person set up as an Administrator or Librarian account type can access the
Bookworm program to enter or change data.
