Abbreviations
Abbreviations are often used when entering frequently used words like medical terms. This makes data entry much faster but also makes the information harder to read for the average person. The application includes a feature that automatically expands abbreviations.

Anytime an abbreviation from the list is entered in the Expander Control the abbreviation will be automatically changed to its expanded form. There are two methods to add an abbreviation to the list. One method is by pressing the New button on the Abbreviation Editor Form. A faster method is to highlight the abbreviation in the Expander Control, press the right-mouse button to display the popup menu, and select the “Add Abbreviation” menu option. This will display the Add Abbreviation form where the expanded word can be entered. Check the “Expand abbreviation...” option to require the abbreviation to be entered in upper-case in order for it to be changed to its expanded form.

NOTE: If the abbreviation is entered with the first character uppercase, the expanded word will also have its first character in uppercase.
